Connect to YouTube, Google in China without VPN! (Mac)
I am pretty sure that all are you are fond of the censorship existing in China. How could you bypass censorship? How can you not use a VPN that costs over $99? Well, here is a method you could simply follow.
You would need a computer, server, or VPS, located out of China and would be running 24/7. If that’s not the case, you could simply use SSH tunneling.
In the scenario, that you have a computer, server, or VPS out of China that is available for SSH log-in, I will take you to the next step. Please go to the Mac App Store and install “SSH Tunnel Manager”
Once you install the SSH Tunnel Manager, here is the next step…
You would have to add a SSH Tunnel in this manager by clicking the plus icon shown in the image below.
If you click the “+” icon, you would be given an option to name your tunnel, and fill in the information.
Information would be filled like the following…
Log-In: root, or (username for your ssh login)
Host: IP Address of your server, computer, or dynamic DNS*
For advanced options, SOCKS4 Proxy , Auto Connect (Optional), and handle authentication must be enabled.
Please download Firefox browser from mozilla.org
Once you have downloaded Firefox, please go to settings by pressing (Command + “,”) or simply clicking in.
Above in settings, go to advanced. Then click settings that is beside “Configure how Firefox connects to the internet”
Then make sure your advanced settings for network connection is formatted.
You are almost done! Now on the url space, type in “about:config” and enter.
Then search up “network.proxy.socks_remote_dns” Make sure the value is true, if not please click on it to make it in to true.
Once this is done, quit the browser. After that restart it, and you are set to go! 😀
